A guide for experts
Providing Resources
While you are not required to provide anything beyond your knowledge, we recommend you consider offering your shadowers additional resources or services to maximize their time and experience with you.
Supplemental Education Material
One of the most beneficial resources you can provide before, during or after your session is supplemental educational material, whether created or curated by you or someone else. Supplemental educational material could include:
- A written description of what you did during the session and how you did it.
- General tips, tricks and information relating to whatever you did during the session.
- Next steps your shadower can take until your next session.
- The project you and your shadower worked on during that session.
- A separate project for your shadower to work on or complete on their own until the next session.
- If you mainly work on a computer, a screencast of your session, so your shadower can study anything they missed on their own.
- If you don't mainly work on a computer, a video recording of the session, so your shadower can study anything they missed on their own.
Food and Drink
We recommend that at a minimum you provide water, but if the session is expected to last more than an hour or two, you might want to consider providing basic snacks as well.
